About us
Just a little bit more about us - who we are and what we are passionate about.
• Deception Valley Lodge is owner managed, and characterized by individuality in the decor, food,
guiding and atmosphere
• Lion, leopard, cheetah, brown hyena, aardwolf and honey badgers are amongst the game tracked
and often found
• Bushmen are renowned for their tracking and survival skills. They apply and demonstrate these on
every game drive and bush walk.
• Braam Badenhorst and Jacobus Slabbert, the two guides, have many years’ experience between
them. Their knowledge and understanding of the unique ecosystem of the Kalahari enrich guests and
contribute vastly to their enjoyment of a total experience as opposed to merely viewing game.
• The biodiversity of the plant, game and bird life stimulates a deeper understanding of the ecosystems
that create order and ensure life
• With its capacity for only 16 guests in 8 chalets set far apart a greater degree of exclusivity is
possible
• The lodge’s remote location and wide open spaces create an impression of tranquillity and peace
• No more than three game drive vehicles are on safari at the same time and the possibility of
encountering another game viewer is remote
• The 15 000ha on which the lodge operates is situated outside the northern border of the Central
Kalahari Game Reserve
